I recently published my first widely available book that I wrote, designed, and illustrated. It evolved from the practice of writing observations from my experiences over the course of many years. I originally had thought I was writing Haiku for myself, as a way of putting patterns and observations onto a page. The short form appealed to me because it forced me to get to the point of the issue, to identify it clearly for myself. I’m normally a little more loquacious. From writing I found myself sharing some of them with my “partners in crime”, the colleagues I would call to work through challenging situations. Those colleagues encouraged me to put the writings into book form, and to pair them with my illustration, and that is how the book was born.
